A Tribute to My Mother

My mom, Sang Rae CHOI was born on April 1, 1915 to a Korean immigrant family in Nagoya.  She lived for more than 100 years before being called home by God on December 4, 2016.  Her life took her from Nagoya, Japan to Kwang Ju, Korea and finally to Gardena, California in the USA.   To me, she was a solid rock, tireless teacher and persevering supporter and I can confess honestly that it was an honor and blessing to be her daughter.
We have many values and goals in life.   To my mom, one thing and one thing only was at the top of the heap.   Her identity superseded all other priorities in life.   나는 하나님의딸! I am a daughter of God!  That was the secret to her victorious life, her life’s motto and her confession of faith, all rolled into one.
Proverbs 31:28 says of the woman of  “Her children rise up and call her blessed.”     As her one and only one daughter, I rise up and bless her.   She lived a full life and I look forward to the completion of her favorite hymn.  “In the sweet by and by, we shall meet on that beautiful shore!”
Her favorite painting was of George Washington kneeling in prayer, at Valley Forge.

One Hundredth Birthday Bash

Mom with Her "Never Stay Down" Toy.  If you fall ten times, get up eleven times.

Mom with her roses.  We once had over 150 blossoms in our little Gardena Garden.

The boat that took Mom's ashes out to sea.

Failing eyesight but an unfailing vision.

Rose petals adorn the scattered ash.

A woman of prayer.

Absent in the body, present with the Lord.

Total Concentration with her favorite toy.

No longer able to attend church, this ceramic church shaped candle holder was the next best thing.  The light shining from within is a great symbol.

A woman of praise
